The world is facing a rapidly increasing demand for a range of critical minerals, particularly for electrification and the expansion of renewable energy. Access to these minerals has become a pressing geopolitical issue.
Preliminary studies indicate a substantial seabed mineral resource potential on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The Norwegian Parliament has opened up for mineral activities, where exploration is the first phase. New regulations under the Seabed Minerals Act are currently under review and will be presented shortly.
Seabed minerals could potentially create an entirely new industry. The knowledge base has been strengthened, and further mapping is ongoing.
The event will address:
- What are the latest updates from the authorities?
- How does geopolitical tension affect supply security?
- What is the economic potential?
- What knowledge do we have, and what more do we need?
